<3

I've had this on repeat all day. I love this song.

---

I can take your pain away if you tear down your fortress of memory
I can take your pain away, you don’t always need to be strong
I can take your pain away, I know we wear different shoes
I can take your pain away, barefoot we will tear the truth

You are the king of silence...you don’t need one word to talk to me
All I know is we have sympathy
Close your eyes and lean your head on me

I can take your pain away if you find a remedy in me
I can take your pain away, you can take as much as you want from me
I can take your pain away, we have a distance between us
I can take your pain away, every time we can find the clue

---

Cibo Matto - King of Silence. <3.

Christmas Spirit

To get everyone in the mood, I demand you go download 8bitpeoples The 8bits of Christmas.

Personally, it doesn't get any better than the Bit Shifter version of "Let It Snow", but grab it all and have a ball.

8bit Peoples - The 8bits of Christmas

It's never sounded so good.

Hail.

Hail., originally uploaded by attentionwhore.

I wish you knew what went into me putting this picture up.

See, I have this Nikon Coolpix 3200 that rarely gets used. And today I decided to slap some batteries in it when the hail started hitting.

But then I couldn't find the cable to connect my camera to my computer. I still couldn't find it 6 hours later.

So at 12:30AM, there I was at Wal*Mart in the express lane with the SanDisk 12 in 1 card reader in my hand. Why I needed 12 in 1 I do not know. But alas.

Here is the hail that attacked me this afternoon.

Crawl on me...spin sugar sugar

Being the poor busy people that we are, Keaton and I spent our Thanksgiving have a good dinner with The Nieda at Mimi's. It was lovely and calm and quiet and much more my speed than a loud long family holiday. As he was for Christmas last year, Jason is always a stupendous person around which to spend a holiday. I highly recommend you try it sometime if you get a chance.

I spent the day mostly sleeping in and fazing and overall waiting for my moment of opulence, but such is every day.

Last night I got to try out Johnny Carino's in Olathe and had a wonderful dish called Timballo which proved delicious enough to make 3 meals out of when it became breakfast and lunch today. By the way, did I mention I was able to fit into my size 8 Banana Republic jeans for this? Amazing.

Tonight was going to be a movie night, but my good friends with whom the plans were with called around 8 tonight saying that they were pregnant and would be spending the night celebrating. Yay for Jon and Megan.

So without a plan for the night, I made a quick trip to Target to get eye makeup remover and new blush and picked up the 40th Anniversary Edition of The Sound of Music. I feel sorry for Travis, our next door neighbor, who will have to hear the brunt of me singing The Lonely Goatherd along with the DVD roundabout 2am.

Other than that, I've got a redesign that I'm working on. Quentin was a sweetheart as always, and made me a little graphic for it. Although I'm still unsure of using due to it's risquéness. Also, I want to steal one of Mr. Zack Hall's pictures for the redesign, as it would be cool to me if I saw Home every time I opened my site.

Until then, the only thing I really am looking forward to at the moment is the Death Cab for Cutie show on the 16th.

And just for you Mr. Richard Godbee, the lyrics to Death Cab for Cutie's Sound of Settling, complete with typed out "BAH BAAAAAAAAH" parts. Just click on.

I've got a hunger
Twisting my stomach into knots
That my tongue was tied off

My brain's repeating
"if you've got an impulse let it out"
But they never make it past my mouth.

Baa bah, this is the sound of settling
Baa bah, baa bah
[x2]

Our youth is fleeting
Old age is just around the bend
And i can't wait to go grey

And i'll sit and wonder
Of every love that could've been
If i'd only thought of something charming to say.

Baa bah, this is the sound of settling
Baa bah, baa bah
[x4]

I've got a hunger twisting my stomach into knots.

Oy.

Tonight just proved that I have absolutely no life.

Or at least the one I do is entirely ruled by Fazed.

Motherfuckers.

Once upon a time, I was playing pool in the first floor common area/lobby of Couch Tower at OU. One of the two main dorms towers.

It was in the summer, late June. The place was littered with summer school students and high schoolers there for defensive football camp, oklahoma summer arts institute, and my digs at the time, the oklahoma summer publications workshop.

Like I said, I was playing pool. There was a big tv and lots of couches. There was a piano to the side. I had just met this short, cute red headed guy who was a ballerina with the OSAI. A guy I went to school with walked in, his name was Will. He chatted with one of the other girls I was with. He was also there for OSAI, but he was in their music program.

He sat at the piano. He lightly started playing Hey Jude. There were people milling about everywhere. It was about 5pm. His playing got a little louder. He started singing along. The girl he knew that I was with started singing as well. Soon, I was leaning over the table to take my next shot. 5 in the corner pocket and take a sad song and make it better. It spread. The next thing I know a good 40 people are in this common area and we're all singing Hey Jude with little Willy still playing the piano.

15 to 25, we all know the words, we all want to be apart of this. The repetitive ending went on for what seemed like forever, but actually two bars less than the actual song. Everyone clapped, and everyone sang. Someone decided to jump up and take Paul's crazy oversung Judey Judey parts. Then it ended.

No one clapped. No one said a thing. And I fucking knocked the 8 ball in and ruined my game.

Most surreal moment of my life.

Mountains or bust.

Lately, I've considered some cheap get Courtney out of Overland Park trips that could be made.

Awhile back the idea was mentioned with Jason but nothing ever came about of it, but I really really want to go to Denver. And if I'm there I want to wonder away from town and find me a God damn mountain.

Now ideally, I'd have the money to strap myself to some dirty old man and throw myself out of a plane while I'm there, but really, the mountain is the main thing. It's time to get some adventure into this girl.

But really, there's a lot of places I want to go and drive to just to see the country, like...

Evol love

First off, I'm running into a huge problem with this site. The amount of content I want to throw up is baffling. It's an issue I've always ran up against. The content I want to publish vs. quality vs. accessibility.

I've got a lot of shit I want to put up and put out just on a regular basis. Most of it is not of concern to the general public, like my weekly uploaded pictures from my phone or random stories about beekeepers. That is the heart and soul of the personal site. However, what about the stuff of various special updates, like the post I haven't made about my trip to Cincinnati for Andy's wedding that would be laboriously long? Then, let's not forget the random pictures uploaded on the go from my phone, and the cd or concert reviews I occasionally post. Also, my randomness of shit like certain repeating thoughts or names people call me other than Courtney. And after I find room for all of that, how about my regular updates about my favorite DJ turned international superstar AJ of Evol Intent and passing on the information from their regular updates because I want to support them to the fullest. How does it all fit?

The main problem is finding a space and place for all of those items together, where they can all be accessed and I can present them all publicly. Another issue in an exceeding amount of content is quality and separating what is meant for mass consumption vs. what is meant for localized use. The random bullshit about my days are always taken in by my friends, but you, local linker from kcbloggers or from fazed, do you even really care? Or how about The Nieda, how much does he really care about my review of the new )EIB( release?

I've got to find a way to accurately do what I want to do regardless of audience (since this site is for me and not you), and yet accurately separate all the information so as to not overwhelm anyone coming in to immediately running away.

With all that said, I suggest you go download the evol intent dubs, most specifically "Street Knowledge" and get a taste of the Evol Intent EP release on Renegade Hardware, Police State. I'm excited that this is finally out and "Filth Bath" can be released for mass consumption. I can't explain EI's sound, other than just saying dark, dirty and evol.

The guys are also at work on a couple releases for Dieselboy's Human Imprint and working hard on their own Evol Intent Recordings releases.

I suggest you go look at the full write up from Knick on 404audio's board.

File under DNB

Just got my first listen of the new Bad Company UK aka )EIB( aka BC or CBBC aka Digital Nation set called Bad Taste. Just released this month, I finally got my hands on it, and I must say I'm really enjoying it. It's not quite as dark as their previous releases, (and not quite as meh as Shot Down on Safari) but you still can't shake the feeling that all you're doing is listening to the soundtrack of a bad sci fi action movie (Doom?). Oddly enough, I happen to like that feeling. I love atmospheric music. Not to call this atmospheric dnb, because it's not, but the set creates this large dark atmosphere around that can really draw you in and solidly fill the space.

"Blow Out" instantly stands out as the quality hit while "Facing the Sun" follows up with the most energetic feel, for anyone looking to mix it in to a set. "Eastern Jam" is the most surprising song as it has the synthed sounds have been given a new style (hence the 'Eastern') and the song plays off slowly.

There's a remix of "Different Strokes" that makes me want to get up and dance, but it sounds almost exactly like the Matrix Remix of "Sex with Strangers" that comes later on the remix disc.

All in all, I'm happy to see )EIB( go more solid and predictably dark, but there's no "Nitrous" on this disc, so the sweet spots will come out when I can see exactly what other djs are willing to do with this release.

Market

Today, I had the wonderful idea to go out to breakfast. Downtown. At Cup & Saucer. I invited Steve along and he thoroughly enjoyed his Beef and Brie sandwich while I had a late helping of eggs.

He had never been to the city market before so I made him walk down and around. I somehow resisted the kettle corn guy, and the only person whose pitch I faltered on was the older husband and wife selling their honey from Odessa, MO. First off, I can't say no to a genuinely nice person. When that genuinely nice person is in their 60s or 70s, well then, I'm sold.

He let Steve and I have a sample on small straws, and I was in love. It was a very new smooth honey, and the sweetness wasn't overwhelming. It easily came off the straw, but clung well as I moved it around. This is very important to me as I don't think you can imagine how much honey I use. It's a regular ingredient in my cooking, especially with chicken, and also, I prefer to just take a spoonful of local honey for my allergies than any pills.

Steve commented on how the honey tasted like honey he used to get in Iowa and the man was more than eager to discuss the differences in clover used in the processes, and seemed a little sad that there wasn't more beekeepers in the area.

I got a decent sized jar of honey for $4, and I bought a couple of clover honey straws. And now I want to quit my job and become a beekeeper until the next crazy idea comes along. We wandered more shops and it was hard to not buy some olives at the Italian market. We decided our time at the market was over after witnessing 2 bunnies make sweet humpy love in a small cage with at least 4 other flop eareds watching.

I then decided to take him to Prospero's Books for a quick tour. Due to odd streets being marked off it took us awhile and an adventure to find a place to park, where we were instantly greeted by the oddest animal of my day, the barking squirrel. He just sat there in this tree really still and barked. It very much resembled an angry bird. We wandered around Prospero's for awhile, and then we treaded up and down 39th to review all the places in the area before finally coming home.

This time there was no barking squirrel. I hope he got what he was barking for.

le pant.

And alas, the weekend is upon again and this is the first weekend in about a month and a half where I haven't had anything planned.

The thought of staying home all weekend actually scares me at this point. I need something to do!

Hopefully I'll be able to talk someone into going and seeing the million movies I want to go watch. And at some point I have to find a formal dress. And find out how to make a decent key lime pie when I can't find key lime concentrate, just the actual limes theirselves.

Alas!
