Flipside.

Ok. I'll admit it. I've been one hell of a downer lately. Poor me this and that.

But you know what?

Every down has an up. Every dark cloud has a silver lining. Every olive has a martini.

My short term looks super shitty, but you know what? It's just a few weeks. Nothing I can't get through. I mean, one shitty thing happened. One really shitty thing considering the details, but you know what else happened?

I got a really nice promotion at work. My hard work and past experience paid off.

I finally somewhat introduced the company Steven and I are haphazardly creating to our small close friend community, and the response has been amazing and positive. Bonus points to Jason for helping create the identity.

Thanks to Bryan, I get to go spend another 4 days in Austin after my birthday during the most amazing time of the year. There will be Tres Leches, and hopefully more Rudy's and Mozart's and Hula Hut and all sorts of texmex and some quality time with one of the best friend's a girl could ever have.

I have my birthday to look forward to as well. It won't be an event like it always was before, but I'm certain it'll at least be fun in some way.

NIN THIS FUCKING WEEKEND. And I've checked recent setlists. He has been playing The Frail, aka the most gorgeous one minute and fifty-four seconds I've ever heard.

I had an amazing dirty martini earlier at Tonic. "The Tadpole." I think there was a splash of Level in all the olive juice. Seriously, Tonic became one of my favorite places in the world tonight. Keaton and I are going to try and go back fairly frequently just for drinks and tapas or dessert. We went all out tonight in a celebratory/valentine's dinner, but the place stole my heart. I got to drink a great martini, have a gorgeous upscale dinner, a small but amazing shrimp spring roll appetizer, and my god. Dessert. The "Chocolate Tasting." All this while an older man sat in the corner singing old standards while I got to watch the NOVA/UCONN and then OSU/KU game on the huge screen and plasmas. This is what Courtneys simply refer to as 'Heaven.' Oh, and the chef is 22. Twenty fucking two. Amazing.

JoLynn, find an empty night, and an Adam, Jason, etc.. We're going back.

As I told Jason earlier:

digitalblarjuice: I have to say overall, today I might be the happiest Courtney to have ever Courtneyed.

I've never been this proud of myself. But for now, I have to go bake a red velvet cake for work tomorrow. Don't remind me that I'm starting after 11pm, please.

The place you ate dinner at the other night sounds yummy! Maybe we'll have to grab the crew next weekend for some dinner!

Hey, thanks for the Valentine's card! That was so sweet! Chris liked the 01110001 motif!

I never got a card.

Abby, I sent a card to baz. Steven and I tried not to duplicate the cards we sent out. He's closer to you and Patty so I let him send cards to either of you.

Next time we'll just double up on all 3 of you!
