I need a zebra cake!

Ok, music time.

If you liked Electric Six's Fire, I got a chance to listen to all of their new album Senor Smoke tonight. It is full of just as much awesome as the last. Currently import only, but hopefully it will be out for domestic release soon.

Tom Vek. This is a must have, especially if you took my advice on Bloc Party awhile back. Raw british garage rock. Highly recommended.

In the same vein, check out The Kills. Very white stripey, just backwards, with a the female playing guitar and singing lead vocals and the guy doing drums.

In more of an electronic world, I've been really into Venetian Snares' Rossz Csillag Alatt Született lately. A wonderful find from Mike Paradinas on his Planet Mu label, it's all by a guy named Aaron Funk who pretty much takes what Aphex Twin, Squarepusher and Autechere did, mixes it together, and comes up with a niche of his own that blows all 3 out of the water. Heavy on the noise, heavy on the breakcore.

Hell, check out everything on Planet Mu.

As always, there's an older song I'm in love with that I revive in rotation. Currently that is "The State We're In" by Chemical Brothers. It fucks the flow up of Come With Us as a whole, but stand alone, Beth Orton's vocals make this one of their best layered efforts. Just enough tempo, airy folk vocals and just slightly orchestrated. But the "what it feels to be true" hook; the effect used is just haunting.

"The Way We Get By" by Spoon is one of my favorite songs to listen to right now.

And I'm sorry Adam. I stand by my claim that Gwen Stefani's Holla Back Girl is the biggest piece of shit ever to be recorded. It just gets worse everytime I hear it.

Also, Saturday night the band playing at halftime during the rollerderby covered my favorite Johnny Cash song. Always a pleasant suprise.

And please, Thunderbirds are Now!, listen to it!

Now, I'm gonna try this sleep thing again.
