What's more American than blowing shit up? Blowing shit up year after year to commerate original American blowing of shit up. Yay.
So thursday Keaton and I checked out my lovely friends', Jon and the Edge intern Cody, band Relapse at Boston's. They played a great set. Their originals were very well put together. Their covers were decent for the tulsa scene, although the lead singer, Coleman, could have put a little more anger into the lyrics of Mudshovel. But damn, that boy can growl. Jon made a very nice save as he almost dropped his drum stick. They did a great cover of Shimmer and of Greed. They covered a Creed song, which, creed can't even play creed anymore so of course they did great at that! Coleman and Cody did an acoustic part together and it was a great break period for the flow of the music. YOU GUYS DID FUCKING GREAT! I'm proud of you kids, especially Jon who I've known since...well, I had just gotten out of 9th grade so he had just finished 7th then? I think so. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing them more often around Tulsa and helping them get some people in the audience anyway I can.
Then the fireworks last night...Keaton, his sister Brittany and myself went out for some chinese and T3 before adventuring toward the river for fireworks. We decided to go to the far side of the Arkansas rather than battling the Riverside crowd and ended up sitting in a field at the end of Elwood where we could see 4 large displays going one after another. It wasn't the multimillion display we saw last year in Dallas, but it was great to just be out together watching the fireworks. It's gonne be a great weekend.
