sick again

And again I have a cold/sinus problem. I was able to make it through a couple hours at work today, and I’ll probably call in tomorrow and rest. I know how I usually feel during these things and it definitely gets worse than how I feel today.

I hate being sick. It makes me do things like eat pints of Ben & Jerry’s and watch Gossip Girl.

broken dog

In a repeat performance of last year Sonja has again ruptured a Cranial Cruciate Ligament.

Last year it was the back left, after I threw her flying squirrel. This time it was the back right after Jason threw a tennis ball. She’s got surgery on Monday and is limping around some but she’s not doing too bad.

Bobby Barrett.

My entire time in Kansas City, and freightquote, was elevated by the presence of Bobby Barrett. He always had great stories and always found a way to turn any situation into a great time. He checked on me daily at work, and occasionally through myspace after I moved, and he was incessantly concerned for me when my dad had a stroke in late 2006.

So it was with shock and sadness that today I found out Bobby passed away on July 3rd from a stroke he suffered on June 30th at the age of 30. If you knew him for 5 seconds you would know how much he loved his wife, his kids, and his friends.

He was always afraid of me putting a picture of him online, on a site with the word whore in it, so this is the only one he ever allowed.

Newton’s first law of Courtney

I’ve gotten to see a lot of the country in the last year, and also got to make it to across the border to Canada.

I’ve got a boyfriend that’s backpacked 3 other continents.

My oldest friend is living in Japan.

I work with a diverse group of people from many countries, and have heard of many recent visits to Asia and Oceania.

Facebook and Picasa accounts have me peering into the tropical and European travels of old friends.

I’m much more driven because of all of this. I’m looking forward to my trip to Japan in November. I’m adapting a mindset now to prepare for that and the many other travels this life will surely cause.

I want to be an object in motion that tends to stay in motion.
